Our growing law firm currently has offices in Mississauga and Burlington, and we are currently expanding into India. Our lawyers are competent, professional, and are actively involved in the Halton and Peel communities.
We are currently looking for a Paralegal Co-op Student / Legal Intern (NCA Students Encouraged) to join our growing team.
Please Note: Paralegal Students will have their hours accredited for their University/College Course. NCA Students will have the opportunity to complete their Articling Requirements. Although the ideal candidate will be required to fulfil a 3 month probationary term (or term necessary as per your program requirement), a permanent paid position will be offered, thereafter, should this placement be mutually suitable. During the probationary term, compensation for expenses will be provided.

Expectations:
Proficient in Microsoft Word
Excellent communication skills
Meticulous proofreading skills
Able to operate technology and office equipment (Photocopy machine / Multi Line Phone System)
Responsible - Maintain and organize files, manage document system and back up hard drive daily. Handle correspondence with the Ontario Court of Justice, Superior Court of Justice, Appellate Court, and Citizenship & Immigration Canada, and handle lawyer scheduling.
Assets:
Familiarity in Personal Injury and/or Civil Litigation.
Knowledge of PC Law for legal accounting
Previous experience / employment at a law office

We currently have one position available for a bright and hardworking Legal Administrative Assistant. We are in a fast-paced, high volume work environment with extremely quick application output.
The Legal Administrative Assistant should have the ability to prepare and complete various administrative duties in relation to Immigration matters including, but not limited to:
Scheduling appointments
Creating and maintaining client case lists
Entering data on immigration forms (both paper and online)
Inputting reminders, updates and saving correspondence
Organizing and assembling application packages
Obtaining government filing fee payments
Filing, faxing, scanning, and copying
Arranging document delivery and couriers
Assisting with routine correspondence
Following up with government authorities on pending applications
Conducting legal research
Performing other administrative tasks as required
The successful candidate must have the following skill set and computer skills:
Minimum one year of experience in a legal administrative assistant role
Be a self-starter who is capable of working both independently and in a group setting
Have excellent attention to detail Possess excellent oral & written skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
Proficient computer skills such as, Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to communicate directly with internal and external parties by both email and phone
